  1. These might have surprised you but they are all true really. Drinking Alcohol is a norm of todays society but it was banned in almost all religions for some reason. So is the case of eating all veggies. Human beings are cornivorous and this is the way they have to be – they were given teeth for some reason. All other points are true as well with similar reasons.

  2. This is clear, and reassuring for an older person…stop the booze even though moderate, 5 drinks a week…keep the b.p. under control.Stress. Check out B12.
    Does the brain in the older person grow new “dendrites” (?) whatever the word…What about programs for the brain..Which are good. Tell us what to do to specifically help ourselves…

  3. I drink alcohol and sometimes smoke cannabis. May be those are some of the reasons my memory is really bad these days. I have a brother and his family who just eats veggies (lots of them). I should break the news to them that eating just veggies will really shrink their brains.

  4. The part about vegetables is bogus. I mean, maybe if all one eats is vegetables. This makes people think that vegans are unhealty. As a vegan, I eat beans, veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds and grains and I am quite healthy.

    B12 comes from bacteria on plants. Not from animals.

    And meat is okay to eat? With all those hormones, antibiotics, and vaccine’s transferings from animal to people…and that doesn’t shrink brain? You have got to be kidding….please do research !! And not justify the death of 40 billion animals slaughtered a year around the world !!!

  6. Regarding alcohol – this effect is particularly strong in women. So alcohol is more harmful to the brains of women then it is to the brains of men.
    (I hope nobody’s gonna call me a sexist now. Scientists don’t know WHY brains of women react more negatively to alcohol, but so far the evidence is a pretty strong for the fact that it does indeed shrink the brain more than it does for man).
